It's Snowing, and snowing, and snowing!

I'm not going to get into the whole global warming discussion right now, especially, since the temperature outside is currently 12 degrees Fahrenheit. With the wind it feels like 6 degrees. Nope, not going to talk about warmth. (BRRRRR!) Since I can't feel my fingers and toes from just stepping outside for a few minutes. Nope, not going to talk about warming.

For the last three weeks we have seen a bunch of snow. We received another 4 plus inches last night that landed on the 6 inches we received on Christmas Eve. And that piled on the 10 inches we already had on the ground. As of this writing it is continuing to snow.

This is the snow on the back deck of the house. The young lady is standing with snow almost to her waist.

The kids are all watching the school and business closing list with mild interest. The ante was upped by a couple of school systems that pulled the trigger on not having class on Monday already. This is causing a number of discussions about the need to lay out clothes, some mild challenges about bed times and my favorite; From my youngest, she would like to know if I get snow days at work so we could have some more vacation together.

All of this snow has allowed for outdoor activities; some snowballs, a snow person, sledding, and icicle eating.
Here is the start to the snow person. Along with some team participation to put the next layer on the base.

Then celebration when the person was completed.

Just looking at the pictures of the winter events makes me cold. Having a great time with the snow. But, I am beginning to think about Spring.

Three snow days. Why can't I be a kid?

I know the jealously is not a virture. But, three snow days in a row? Going to work is hard enough each day. But, when the whole house is quiet, the covers are warm, and there is a blanket of ice and snow outside. I want a snow day. I'm a dedicated employee yet, I like being a kid.

So, off I go. Carefully making sure I don't land on my hind quarters infront of the homestead.

It was nice to hear from my kids on my cellphone. The calls were few. We have been outside playing in the snow. We just came in to have Hot Chocolate. Can you come home early to play in the snow? That one from my son made we a little squishy.

They seemed to enjoy themselves. I did get to make a snowball. They also were able to make a couple of snowmen.

Can't wait till the next time it snows.

Can you say snow day?

Yep, the first snow day of the year occurred this morning. We had an idea last night that it could be a unique morning. We had thunder, lightening, and ice. It was a thunder ice storm.

The sound of the ice hitting the house sounded like someone was outside the house with a garden hose on the windows. Dabba wasn't a fan of the thunder ice.

This morning when I went outside to head to work I slid down my sidewalk to the driveway. It took 30 minutes to thaw my car so I could get in the thing. As I slid down the drive way into the street it was a little unnerving especially since I had only barely touched the accelerator.

My kids were loving the day off. My lovely wife was looking for some reinforcements later in the day.

The kids are excited, the weather doesn't look like it is getting any better soon, the schools cancelled classes for snow day number two. This happened even before bedtime!

So, snow day number two on the way!

Blogging Break - Due to weather

The reason for the break in blogging has been the weather and work. The past 10 days we have had some weather watch or warning or a thunderstorm with enough lightening to light a large city each evening into the early morning hours. These haven't been the garden variety rain storm these have been the sit in the basement with your severe weather kit and wait out the storm. Don't get me wrong. I'm not a wimpy weather guy. This sounds like it deserves cheese and crackers to go with the Whine! But, this recent batch of storms have been unbelievable!

Then there has been a small distraction called work. Lots going on this time of year. I have a big project that has been lots of fun. Just putting all the pieces together is a bit like playing corporate Jinga. It's going well.

In blogging world I have been spending a lot of time learning from others. There are some really cool blog people out there in the space. I've been looking at the folks nominated for the best blog awards. Some of them are so funny. There are others that deal with let's say interesting content. It has been fun to blog around and leave comments.

So with all of that said. I'll be posting every day for the 100 days of summer. Planning this event has caused me to carry an extra notebook just for the blog insights that I pick up during the day. Yep, I'm at that age where if I don't write it down sometimes it goes in one ear and out the other. The note book also gives me the chance to sleep at night. If I don't write down the idea I'll toss and turn trying to remember. Maybe TMI (Too Much Information)

Anyway, let the 100 days begin.

Weather Delays the Soccer Debut of Princess Dabba

An ice storm came through our area last night. This was welcomed by the older siblings that were let out of school for the day. Our youngest member of the family saw the inclement weather as an inconvenient extension to delay her soccer debut.

Isn't it interesting how people see one situation with such different points of view.

It appears the soccer debut of Princes Dabba will have to wait until next Monday evening. I can tell you there was some serious practice put in today in the house.
